Brief Biographical Sketch
Lynne Slater is the Associate Chief of Equal Opportunity Programs Office (EOPO) at the Goddard Space
Flight Center. Her 33 year NASA career includes analyst and supervisory positions in finance and human
resources before moving to the EOPO in 1987 to manage the Federal Women’s Program and the Discrimination
Complaints Process. She holds masters degrees in English Literature (University of New Hampshire, 1974)
and Community Counseling (University of Maryland, 1994). Her counseling thesis focused on the issues of
women in leadership positions. Ms. Slater has been instrumental in initiating a value-based decision making
workshop for women, the Goddard lactation program, the domestic violence program, and Center-wide sexual
harassment training. She received the NASA Exceptional Service Medal in 1997 and again in 2007.
