American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) Summer Research Experience

Eligibility: Enrolled in an accredited Tribal College or University located in the U.S. Open to faculty - student teams engaged in science, technology, engineering or mathematics field of relevance to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Freshman or above at the time of internship; US citizen, GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

Description: The AIHEC SRE is a summer research program that provides students enrolled in a Tribal College or University with opportunities to participate in on-going GSFC research projects, or tailored projects relevant to their reservation and gain hand-on experience in their field of study. The SRE is student learning work experience in which the participant team is paired with a mentor from Goddard's science or engineering laboratories through a match between the Lab's requirements and the student's background, academic level and interest. Students with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation services.

Duration: varies; usually 6-10 weeks

Dates: June-August

Stipend: The SRE covers a stipend, round trip transportation from home or university to Maryland, and housing.
